Ian McLaren is a recently retired Sr. Executive who spent over 35 years in the global hi-tech industry.
Ian brings a significant amount of experience in the operational management of technology companies having been in CEO leadership roles in both large well established publicly traded companies, as well as VC funded start up companies that went through the cycle of fund raising, growth, IPO, mergers and acquisitions.
Previous to founding his last company, Headwall Software, which he subsequently sold to BOA in 2012, Ian held various roles within the industry. He spent a year on the management team of Skypoint Capital, a Canadian based Venture Capital firm. Previous to that Mr. McLaren was President and Chief Executive Officer of Ubiquity Software Corporation from 2001 until February 2007. During this period Ian lead the company through a growth period that lead to an IPO in mid 2005 and then ultimately the sale of Ubiquity to Avaya Inc. in the spring of 2007. He then spent the next six months post acquisition assisting in the successful integration of Ubiquity to Avaya. Prior to 2001 he held senior executive positions as President and CEO of Crosskeys Inc., a publicly traded company ultimately acquired by Orchestream in the spring of 2001; Prior to that Mr McLaren was President and CEO of SHL Systemhouse, a $1.8 billion dollar publically traded services company that was acquired by MCI in 1996, and then subsequently acquired by EDS in the fall of 1999; and prior to this was Vice President, Financial Sector Marketing at Digital Equipment Corporation.
